Childbirth Services
Welcome to Childbirth Services at the Davajan-Cabal Center for Perinatal
and Neonatal Medicine at Good Samaritan Hospital. We offer a variety of
services in English, Korean and Spanish to support you and your family
during pregnancy and after your baby arrives.
Childbirth Services is pleased to offer our First Arrival Series (First
Experience, Baby Care and Breastfeeding) as a courtesy to those who will
deliver at Good Samaritan Hospital.
Pre-Admission registration can be completed at the hospital in the Admitting
department, located on the first floor of the hospital adjacent to the
main lobby.
We recommend that you attend classes during the seventh month of pregnancy.
Registration should be completed during the fifth month of pregnancy to
ensure availability, as our classes fill up quickly.
Please wear comfortable clothes. You are welcome to bring one support person
to all of our classes.
First Experience Class
The First Experience class is designed for expecting parents, this class
covers third-trimester concerns during pregnancy, labor, birth and postpartum.
There is an emphasis on partner support and coping measures, including
breathing and pushing techniques.
- A maternity tour will be conducted at the end of the First Experience class.
Baby Care Class
This class covers basic baby care, infant behavior, and swaddling and soothing
techniques and safety.
Breastfeeding Class
This class includes a discussion of benefits, positioning, feeding cues,
troubleshooting, pumping, going back to work, medications, nutrition and
breastfeeding resources.
The Breastfeeding and Baby Care class is two in one in the English class.
Maternity Tours
These tours familiarize you with the hospital to make your stay more comfortable.
We recommend early registration, as tours have limited availability.
