A Family-Centered Approach
Welcoming a new baby into the world can be one of the most joyous and exciting
times in a new parent’s life. Our exceptional clinical team works
closely with new mothers and their families to prepare them for the baby’s
birth and to ensure some of the best possible health outcomes for both
mother and baby.
At Good Samaritan Hospital, mothers deliver their babies in a fully equipped
private room, allowing them to go through labor, delivery and recovery
in a comfortable and welcoming setting.
If a baby requires very special care, Good Samaritan Hospital has a level
3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) staffed 24 hours a day by a highly
trained team of neonatologists, nurses, neonatal nurse practitioners and
social workers.
A neonatologist is available for consultation with the obstetrician 24
hours a day. The maternal fetal medicine physician will help manage any
maternal and fetal complications during pregnancy, while a neonatal team
specializing in acute care for newborns attends all high-risk deliveries.
Ultrasound equipment and operating suites are all close at hand. Our team
of obstetrical anesthesiologists is also available 24 hours a day to make
a mother’s labor more comfortable or to assist in any emergency.
Our NICU staff encourages important parent-infant bonding. Parents have
24-hour open visiting privileges and are encouraged to visit or call to
check their baby’s progress as often as they like.
